Alun Hoddinott CBE (1929 - 2008)
Alun Hoddinott died on March 11th 2008 following a long illness and a prolonged stay in hospital.
Alun believed very strongly that Wales needed its own music publishing industry in order to both safeguard existing works and to both encourage and promote new ones. Alun Hoddinott was the prime force behind the formation of Oriana Publications and was a staunch supporter during our first twelve years of existence.
Alun was a kind, gentle, generous man with an incredible intellect and a love and appreciation of the Arts in their widest sense. He had a heart as big as a house and truly was, in Peter Pears' words, a Father Christmas of a man – the world is a poorer, darker place for his passing but we are all enriched for having known such a wonderful man.
All of us at Oriana will miss Alun Hoddinott greatly and will never forget the debt that this company owes to him.
Cysga yn dawel Alun.
